A Swedish professor who protested at his criminal conviction for refusing to share Gothenburg University research data has lost his human rights appeal to Strasbourg judges.
“I am concerned with the situation in Azerbaijan regarding freedom of expression but the Eurovision Song Contest is an opportunity to have a debate and raise these concerns,” said the Secretary General.
Privacy rights, restrictions on the use of photographs and video and legal questions surrounding image protection are highlighted in a European Court of Human Rights factsheet entitled ‘Right to one’s own image.’
The new Latvian human rights commissioner says he will “build on the work done so far in order to develop the contribution of the Commissioner’s Office to the effective observance and full enjoyment of human rights in member states.”
