“The lives of millions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex persons are still burdened by widespread prejudice, stigmatisation and in some cases even violence,” said Commissioner for Human Rights, Nils Muižnieks, on the eve of the ILGA-Europe’s annual conference in Dublin.

The Council of Europe Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities is keen to highlight the issue, due to the importance of language in “matters of participation,” its role “in promoting full and effective equality” and “as a strong marker of identity,” according to the committee’s new chair Athanasia Spiliopoulou Åkermark.
The expansion could see Edgeryders activists working on innovation projects in Turkey, through its planned citizens’ assemblies and also involved in “deep engagement” projects in Romania, Serbia and Spain.
