Football midfield great and former UEFA boss Michel Platini, has lodged a complaint against Switzerland with the European Court, alleging his human rights have been violated.

Earlier today, the Strasbourg court confirmed press reports that it has received an application from Platini, a star player for France in the 1980′s, who later became president of Europe’s football authority.

It is understood that Platini is appealing against an eight year ban, imposed by  FIFA ethics committee for financial wrongdoing. The ban was later reduced on appeal to four years by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
