Russia: Jagland urges investigation after anti-LGBT attacks

“Worrying” allegations of attacks on LGBTQ people in the Chechen Republic, have prompted Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland to write to Russia’s High Commissioner for Human Rights, urging her to launch an investigation.

The Secretary General’s 4 April letter to Tatiana Moskalkova, follows reports of “serious human rights violations of LGBT persons.”

Jagland states: “Given the seriousness of these claims, I would appreciate if you would share with me the results of your investigations at your earliest convenience.”
