Parliamentary Assembly: Thorbjørn Jagland urges independent inquiry into corruption allegations

Allegations of corruption and wrong-doing, made against members of the Parliamentary Assembly, should be investigated by an independent inquiry body, according to Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland.

In a 24 March letter to the assembly’s president Pedro Agramunt, the secretary general urges him to deal with the claims in a “swift and transparent manner.”

Jagland adds: “It is paramount that all (assembly) members act with integrity and are perceived as doing so by the wider public.”
