Video: A second chance for children in conflict with the law

In this video, experts discuss the protection of childhood, as it affects minors “in conflict with the law.”

The experts gathered in Strasbourg for a two-day training seminar on social rights, violence against children and effective advocacy at national level, organised by the Council of Europe, in co-operation with EuroChild and ChildPact.

The French NGO Foyer Oberholz, which furthers the social integration of young people in care, provided lunch, with the help of two young people it works with, who are hoping for “a second chance.”

According to experts, regaining self-esteem, maintaining ties with family and educational support, offer the best encouragement to children caught-up in the criminal justice system, to turn their lives around.
