Conference to highlight role of education in preventing radicalisation, terror and violent extremism

A two-day conference starts tomorrow, with the focus on the role of education in the prevention of radicalisation leading to terrorism and violent extremism.

The 9-10 November 2016 Exchange on the religious dimension of intercultural dialogue is a platform for dialogue between public authorities, religious communities and organisations representing non-religious beliefs, and broader civil society on topics of particular importance to the religious dimension of intercultural dialogue.

The event brings together senior delegates of religious communities (Buddhists, Christians, Jews, Muslims), representatives of interreligious groups, non-religious organisations, NGOs, youth delegates, experts, academics, as well as mainstream media professionals and officials from international organisations.

Opening statements will be delivered by Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland, by the Chair of the Ministers’ Deputies Ambassador Katrin Kivi, by Parliamentary Assembly President Pedro Agramunt and by the Chair of the Human Rights Commission of the Conference of INGOs Michel Aguilar.
