Podcast: Losing the game – Girls, sport and Europe’s health time-bomb

Why are girls twice as likely as boys to abandon sport and physical activity during their school years?

This question and its health implications for Europe, are at the heart of this podcast, ahead of a Pestalozzi Programme Summer School seminar on the relationship between sport and democratic citizenship next summer in Greece.

Josef Huber, Head of the Programme, says increasing physical activity among girls is a matter of “equal access” and “inclusion.”

He added: “We link physical education in school to democracy and human rights, to see how these fit together, so that they contribute to a better society and a more equal society.”
