In this podcast conversation, Tiina Oikarinen discusses the progress made in improving the human rights of Europe’s transgender people.
Oikarinen, of the Council of Europe’s Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Unit (SOGI), recognises 2015 as a year in which transgender rights moved into the mainstream and hopes the momentum for change will continue this year.
“What we are seeing in the last year is the interests of transgender people are coming onto the agenda,” they* say. “This is not by chance. This is the result of the long-standing work of trans activists.”
