Podcast: EUROPOL – Organised crime’s involvement in migrant smuggling is on an “unprecedented scale”

In this podcast, Europol migration expert Alvaro Rodriguez Gaya (photo) discusses the “unprecedented scale” of organised crime’s involvment in the smuggling of migrants into Europe.

Speaking after a Parliamentary Assembly hearing, the European police office migration expert points to the collapse of state authority in Libya as a boost to the 30,000 criminals now involved in migrant smuggling within the European Union area.
