Later today, Anna Rurka, will discuss a range of important and current concerns for European civil society, in a Facebook conversation / interview hosted by the Council of Europe.
Starting at midday, the President of the Conference of International Non-Governmental Organisations (CoINGO) will answer questions for one hour.
Rurka is the lead voice in a 320-strong group of international NGOs representing member state civil society organisations. This leaves her well-placed to discuss key issues such as this week’s headline-making INGO letter to Azerbaijan’s President urging the release of activist Intigam Aliyev.
It is also probable that Rurka will be questionned on the NGO response to the situation in Greece and in Ukraine, the European austerity pandemic, the rise in extremism, the growth of ‘compassion fatigue,’ the threatened roll-back of human rights protection in member states, Europe’s ‘migration crisis’ and the feared ‘progress freeze’ on disability rights.
The conversation / interview is open to the online public too. Comments and questions can be posted on the Council of Europe Facebook page from 11h45 (CET).
