Tortured by Syria’s feared secret police, Sameer Hannan eventually fled to Netherlands with his Armenian wife and son Daniel, aged 6, to seek political asylum.
Whilst his application was processed, he and his family were confined to a detention centre.
In this video, Sameer discusses the traumatic impact of that experience on his son and why he wants governments to end the detention of migrant children.
sameer was in strasbourg to take part in the Parliamentary Assembly’s ‘Living Library,’ designed to alert law-makers to the impact of detaining children in migrant centres.
