Witness: Marinus Hazekamp – Why we need more male primary school teachers

In this podcast interview, school director Marinus Hazekamp discusses his reasons for believing that primary schools would benefit from having more male teachers.

Hazekamp, a director of five schools in the Netherlands, who was a keynote speaker at yesterday’s ‘Children at the centre of education’ conference, also outlines his views on introducing philosophy to children as young as four years of age.

He also tells of his experience on delivering inclusive education to students of Moroccan origin and how to make learning interesting for the nine per cent of primary aged children in his country who, according to a recent survey, are disillusioned by school life.
