In this podcast, David Milner reviews the impact of the public consultation on the future of the European Court.
The Head of the Court Reform Unit says: “I’m very pleased with the results. We really received feedback from our hoped-for target group.
Milner confirms that his unit received 120 submissions from across Europe on the long-term future of Europe’s human rights system, based on the European Convention on Human Rights and the European court in Strasbourg.
Experts will meet later this week to consider the responses and a report will be submitted to the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers by 15 April 2015.
“We have a group of high-level experts,” Milner adds. “. There are other views which we don’t necessarily hear as clearly. That is the value of the process.”
