In this video, Maria Paschou, discusses her work as chair of the Council of Europe’s Advisory Council on Youth.
The Greek lawyer (photo) reveals her reasons for taking up this post and the skills she has since acquired. Paschou also outlines the importance of giving young people a voice in European decision-making and the impact the council has on the organisation’s campaigns.
“I was involved for many years in youth issues,” she says. “Then, I started working at the European level and was the coordinator of the All Different, All Equal campaign in 2006-07.
“I found the work of the Council of Europe and Advisory Council amazing. You have the opportunity to bring directly the needs and the voice of young people [into] policy discussions.”
