In this video, Rui Gomes discusses the No Hate Speech campaign contribution to Peace One Day on 21 September.
“We are all concerned by the absence of peace, in the same way as we are all concerned by the violence that hate speech represents,” says the Head of Education and Training, in the Council of Europe’s youth department (photo).
Peace One Day, started by the actor-turned-filmmaker Jeremy Gilley, encouarges international activities to further reconciliation . It seeks to institutionalise a “day that is self-sustaining, an annual day of global unity, a day of intercultural cooperation on a scale that humanity has never known.”
Gomes adds: “It mobilises people for one cause. It’s a global issue. It’s a global project. It’s a global event. It’s very much in the spirit of the No Hate Speech movement.”
