In this video, Laura Bates, founder of the Everyday Sexism Project, outlines her views on the portrayal of women in the media.
Bates spoke at two-day conference in Amsterdam earlier this month, organised by the Council of Europe and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of the Netherlands.
The Everyday Sexism Project catalogues “ instances of sexism experienced by women on a day to day basis.” Bates took these issues to Facebook and persuaded the online social network giant to remove pages that glorify violence against women.
