A decision on the winner of this year’s European Drug Prevention prize moved a step closer this week following two-days of deliberations among the jurors.
They met at the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg to review 83 projects submitted by applicants from 24 countries. The prize-winners will be announced at a conference scheduled for 14 November.
In this interview, expert Richard Ives (photo), who works with the Pompidou Group, the Council of Europe’s drug policy specialist unit, explains how the winners will be chosen. He also discusses the broader themes of drug prevention, refuting the link between illicit drug-taking and soaring levels of youth unemployment.
