Negotiations on the accession of the European Union to the European Convention on Human Rights are set to resume in Strasbourg next week, it has been confirmed.
The green light was given by the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers. The talks will aim to finalise the “legal instruments setting out the modalities of accession.”
It is understood that next Thursday’s meeting will tackle procedural issues and will not go into matters of substance. It is believed that September is earmarked as the time for a gear-shift in the negotiations.
