Government ministers, policy-makers and experts meet in Slovenia next week to asses the challenges posed by the ‘Balkan route’ – a transit zone for illicit drugs in Europe.
The 13 December conference in Ljubljana, organised by the Pompidou Group and the Slovenian Health Ministry, will also be the venue for the launch of the European Drug Prevention Prize 2012.
It also includes the accession ceremonies for three new Pompidou Group member states – Monaco, Montenegro and Morocco. Other states are expected to join the network, including Ukraine and Albania, which will chair the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers for six months from May 2012.
