In this interview, Linda Freimane discusses the anti-discrimination campaign of lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender people (LGBT) in Latvia.
Freimane, one of the 16 founders of Mozaika, currently the only LGBT organisation in Latvia, shares her views on the national fight against homophobia and transphobia and highlights the mobilising efforts of the country’s campaigners.
“Homosexuality is not illegal but it is not visible,” she says. “Most people in Latvia would still be very secretive about their sexual orientation, which leads to a lot of personal tragedies, frustrations and traumas.”
