Stiffer penalties for bribery and trading in influence offences should be introduced in Andorra, according to the Council of Europe’s Group of States against Corruption (GRECO).
In a new report published today, it also advises the country to make “considerable changes” to its legislation, requiring political groupings to publish their accounts on a regular basis, including the names of major donors and in kind support.
Greco recommends that the supervision of political financing needs to be more effective and complemented with a more extended range of proportionate and dissuasive sanctions and urges Andorra’s authorities to sign and ratify the Additional Protocol to the Criminal Law Convention on Corruption.
