Governments agree new anti-violence treaty

Governments from 47 member states have agreed a new pan-European treaty tackling all forms of violence against women.

The Council of Europe convention, open for signature in Istanbul next May, creates a legal framework and compliance monitoring system aimed at strengthening the protection of women.
