Mediator Training Programme To Boost Roma Integration

Details of a new Council of Europe mediator training programme to boost Roma integration have been unveiled today in Brussels.

Olöf Olafsdottir, the organisation’s Director of Education and Languages, told an EU hearing on education and training this morning that mediators, selected from 16 countries (Albania, Bulgaria, Czech republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”, Turkey and Ukraine), will start training in Strasbourg on 26-29 January.

Olafsdottir also announced that most of the mediators selected for the programme are Roma. All school and health mediators will be of Roma origin.
